It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single deity in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a hobby. Death—currently going by he/him pronouns, the name Mic, and appearing as a skeleton wearing elaborate, feathered outfits, gold-&-jade jewelry, and what looks suspiciously like the flayed skin of a man—has opened a new bookstore. You play as Mic’s employees, tasked with solving your customers’ issues by recommending books. Which of you will be able to help the most customers, earn the most skulls, and be named Employee of the Month?
Nexus Books is a mini roleplaying game commission by the One Shot Podcast Network in the Fall of 2023.
It adapts a popular folk game, where players write the first sentences of books based on the cover and descriptive blurb, into a character-driven, narrative experience with elements of creative writing and improvisational, "Apple-to-Apples" mechanics.
